Afternoon round-up …

Just in from a long exploration of Cheever Country on foot. Lots to read everywhere this afternoon and so I’ll just do a simple list and refrain from much commentary:

In the Times, there’s a review of the Yaddo exhibit at the New York Public Library with a hilarious line about Mr. Cheever’s memories of his days in Saratoga.

Also in the Gray Lady, there’s an interesting interactive on presidential endorsements. The graphic comes complete with .pdf versions of every presidential endorsement the paper has printed since 1860.

In media news, Gannett delivered its third-quarter report, and the outlook still seems far from rosy. Reaction here.

I thought this was interesting — it popped up on Romenesko yesterday and I keep forgetting to post it. Times editorial page editor Andrew Rosenthal speaks at the J-School.

In anticipation of seeing W. this weekend, I found this item, also courtesy of Romenesko, of value. Cox News Service reporter Ken Herman says Brolin is dead-on as 43. We’ll see.

In political reporting, this story by John Dinges at Huffington was interesting.

For a dark laugh, visit Huffington right now.
